This is the heart of Broadstairs, covering Viking Bay, the old town, and the High Street. The bay is genuinely lovely, a small sandy cove with a harbour arm and coloured beach huts. The High Street has a decent run of independents, cafes, and a few galleries, and it gets busy in summer without feeling overrun the way Margate can. Dickens connections are everywhere, Bleak House sits on the cliff above the bay. Housing is a real mix, from Victorian cottages near the seafront to larger Edwardian terraces further back. The station is here too, with High Speed services to St Pancras in about 80 minutes. It is the bit of Thanet that people actually mean when they say they are thinking of moving to Broadstairs.
