Cazenove is the heart of Hackney's Hasidic Jewish community. The streets around Cazenove Road and Lordship Road have a character unlike anywhere else in London. Kosher shops, synagogues, and a community that is largely self-contained. Housing is Victorian terraces, many extended and adapted for large families. It borders Stamford Hill to the north and Stoke Newington to the west. The area is quieter than much of Hackney, with a strong sense of community, though it's a community that keeps to itself. Non-Jewish families also live here and the coexistence is generally easy.
