Loughton St John's

St John's covers the area around the old Loughton village centre, near St John's Church and the High Road. This is where Loughton has the most character. Victorian and Edwardian cottages and terraces sit on narrower streets, and the High Road has a proper parade of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. Loughton tube is close. It feels more like a small town centre than a suburban strip. The older housing stock and walkability to both the station and the forest make it popular with people who want something with a bit of personality rather than just a commuter base.
