Poplar is classic inner East London, heavily shaped by post-war rebuilding after the Blitz and the closure of the docks. The Balfron Tower, Goldfinger's brutalist sibling to the Trellick Tower, is the architectural landmark. There are large council estates, some in decent condition and some less so. The DLR runs through and Poplar station connects to the Jubilee line at Canary Wharf. It is not an area people seek out, but it is affordable, well-connected, and has a settled community of long-term residents alongside newer arrivals. Bartlett Park provides some green space.
